Collaborating apart
Welcome to the first Dublin UX of 2020. This February we invite you to our "Collaborating apart" special, hosted in partnership with our friends at Intercom. This is our first time being hosted by Intercom at their office on St. Stephen's Green - we can't wait to welcome you.
---
If you'd like to learn more about Design at Intercom, why not join them for their "Building Intercom Dublin" event on 27th Feb. Registration is now open at https://buildingintercomdublin2020.splashthat.com/
---
Doors will open for Dublin UX at 6:30pm for registration. We will have refreshments and food before our first speaker takes to the stage at 7pm.
RSVP to confirm your attendance. As we have strict numbers on the night, a confirmed spot will be required. Each guest will need to RSVP separately. For building security, we will require your full name when registering. RSVPs will be shut down 24 hours in advance, it will not be possible to exchange your spot or free it up after this point, so please update well in advance if you know you can not make it. We will be checking names upon arrival. In addition, Intercom will require all attendees to sign an NDA on arrival. Please give yourself plenty to time to register.
Due to no-shows we do over allocate tickets. Please arrive early to avoid any disappointment.
Giveaways:
Thanks to our friends at Agile-Lean Ireland we have two tickets to give away (worth over €300 each). The 2 day conference will once again take place at Croke Park in April. Best tweets of the night will be eligible to win. You must be in attendance and hosts decision is final. === Talk 1 =====
"The Nature of Collaboration"
Kathryn Parkes, UX Design Research at Cisco
In our rapidly-changing world, designers, UX teams and our organisations need to be resilient in order to survive. In this talk, Kathryn will discuss how we can find inspiration in nature and learn from the proven solutions all around us. There have been many examples of biomimicry used successfully in product and service design but does bio-inspired thinking help in the design of software systems and how re manage our organisations?
Kathryn’s particular area of interest is in collaboration between Teams and how organisations use collaboration tools across distributed teams, many of whom may never have met in person. She will draw on her own experience as a remote worker based in Dublin, Ireland working with her team who are predominantly based in California and the work being done at Cisco looking at Collective Intelligence across large-scale distributed organisations.
Kathryn Parkes is a Senior UX Researcher at Cisco, where she leads both qualitative and quantitative research studies as part of the Collaboration group. She has over 24 years of experience in researching, designing, and developing user-centred products having worked as an independent consultant, agency-side, and in-house across a range of industries and sectors.
